A photo of Alexander Hoch

Alexander Hoch, born on September 26, 1963, in a small town on the edge of the Swabian Alb, has been a journalist for over 40 years, during which time he has published numerous technical articles through renowned publishers as well as his own publishing house. His musical passions are the guitar and the drums.

After a chronic joint disease took away his ability to play his favorite instrument, the guitar, he returned to drumming. Unfortunately, he had to contend with limitations here as well and, out of necessity, developed his own personal style of drumming.

The foundation for "Underload Drumming" was born—a drumming style that combines mindfulness and inclusion. Overall, Underload Drumming creates interesting approaches and impulses not only for musicology but also for pedagogy. His first volume on Underload Drumming is dedicated to the theory, posture, and fundamentals of the style. A second volume is currently in the works and focuses on practical application, including the broad field of music pedagogy.

And when he's not writing his books, he enjoys spending his time in nature.

Because "...sometimes, just like with Underload, it is the silence that resonates most deeply within us."
